We will be taking up our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering on December 22, 2019.
The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is an annual offering that is taken up the Sunday before Christmas. 100% of the money given goes towards our international missionaries and their work on the field with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Well over 100 years ago, a single missionary named Lottie Moon, while serving in China, began writing letters challenging the American church to send and support more workers to go there. After her death on the field, her challenge was heeded in the formalization of an offering in her name. Her life is a reminder of why we must give to send and support missionaries serving among unreached peoples in unreached places.
December 8-14 is our Week of Prayer for International Missions.
Each year in December we set aside a week to focus our prayers on our international missionaries and their work among unreached people groups.
We do have a prayer guide available in your Sunday School Department, or you can pick one up in the Mission Area of Guest Services. Also, this guide is found online with videos you can watch. Click HERE to go to the online prayer guide.
Be looking on our Facebook Mission’s Group for updates throughout the week.
This is one full week where we are calling an all out blitz of service projects in the River Valley. We have projects scheduled for morning, afternoon, and evening. We have projects for skilled workers and for anyone, even kids! Signup NOW!
Our goal is two-fold:
We want you to signup for as many projects as you can do! 90% of these projects will only last about 1 hour or less. Prior to your scheduled project, you will come up to Grand in Room 118, be given a t-shirt, any materials you might need, instructions, and someone will pray over your team. It’s that simple!
Orphan Sunday will be Sunday, November 10. This is a Sunday recognized all over the world to raise awareness for orphan care, foster care, and adoption.
During that Sunday morning we will host several booths in our Guest Services area that highlight each of these areas that our church participates in. We hope you will make a point and walk through the area either before or after the morning worship service on November 10.
Some of the organizations who will join us will be…

We are extremely excited about Perspectives this next year! This is a 15-week class beginning January 13. It meets every Monday evening 6:30pm-9:30pm.
We have seen God use this class to do incredible things in people’s lives. It is definitely a commitment, but it is well worth it.
The President of the Southern Baptist Convention and Pastor of The Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, JD Greear, said about this class, “Perspectives is, in my opinion, the single best discipleship course to mobilize the church to God’s mission.”
You don’t want to miss out. You can find out more information and register for the class by clicking HERE.
Each year throughout the month of November, we take up a For The City Offering. 100% of the money received goes towards local missions.
In the past we have used this money to purchase all of our city’s firefighters a Bible, diaper bags for First Choice Pregnancy Medical Center, goodie bags for students at ARCOM, etc.
This year we will also be using the funds for multiple projects throughout our city during For The City Week – December 1-7.
Please be in prayer about how you can bless our community financially through this offering. We will have special offering envelopes available or you can always give online and designate that gift to “For The City.”
Throughout the month of November, we will be hosting a food drive for our own Helping Hand Ministry. Let’s fill our church’s pantry as we get to the holiday season which seems to be a tough time of year for people in our community.
Each of our Sunday School Departments will be competing to see who brings in the most food. Here are some specific items that we are needing…
This year we will be doing Thanksgiving Blessing a little bit differently. Instead of us purchasing all of the turkeys, we are partnering up with 40/29’s Feeding Hope Turkey Drive and the River Valley Regional Food Bank.
We will provide volunteers at the Neighborhood Market (8600 Hwy 71 S) 7am-6pm where we will collect donated turkeys. Each donated turkey will be matched by Butterball! Our church will get a portion of all of the donated turkeys.
With the donated turkeys, we will distribute them through our Multiply Network Churches.
If you were not able to make it on Go Day a couple of weeks ago, you may have missed receiving our 2020 Mission Magazine. Be sure and get your copy the next time you are at church. They are located in the Mission Area of Guest Services.
If you have a question about missions at Grand, you can probably find it in there. Here are a few of the items…
