Our May For The City initiative is “We Love Our Police Officers.” Throughout the month of May, we are asking our Bible Study Departments to collect snacks, make cookies, write notes, etc. and get them to the different police stations around the River Valley to show our appreciation for their dedication and hard work. Remember that our goal is to get to relationships, so think about ways that your group can engage more than just dropping some stuff off. Since Bob Lever, our Senior Adult Pastor, is also the chaplain for the Fort Smith Police Department, his senior adults will take care of our Fort Smith officers. It would be great if other groups could work with other stations around the area like Van Buren, Greenwood, State Police, Sheriff’s Office, etc.
We are also encouraging all of our members to attend the Law Enforcement Memorial Service which will be held on May 19th at 10am in front of the Courthouse. Afterwards we will be hosting a lunch in the Community Room of the Fort Smith Police Station. Be looking soon for a sign up sheet to serve at the lunch and bring side dishes, breads, salads, and desserts. We will post a link soon to an online sign up form.
Contact our Mission Pastor, Scott Ward, with any questions.
