Friendship Family is a program put on each year by UAFS that connects willing households with an incoming international student to give them a family-type support system while they are here in the country. This is not a host family where a student lives with you. The minimum expectation is that you will include your assigned student in a family activity, like dinner or church, around once per week and include them in some holidays. This is really a fantastic opportunity for you to make a difference in someone’s life and eternity. Many of these students come from countries where they do not get the opportunity to hear the gospel, and this might be their one chance to see it lived out in front of them.
Beau Barrera, the leader of our Welcoming Ministry, will be leading an informational meeting on Sunday, July 31st, after the morning worship service in the College Room (120). A free lunch will be provided, and you are welcome to bring your children. You are not committing to anything by just attending this meeting, but you will have the opportunity to sign on if you so choose.
This is an incredible opportunity that our university is giving our church! Let’s be sure and take advantage of it. For more information, contact Beau Barrera.
